HAT YAI - THAILAND
You will find Hat Yai located deep in southern Thailand, right on the border with Malaysia. Hat Yai International Airport is located about 5 miles outside the city making it quite easy to get into the city proper once your plane has landed.
Buses are the cheapest way to get around in Thailand and Hat Yai is no exception. You can get a bus from here to most of the Thai southern cities as well as Bangkok and also to the cities in Malaysia. Aside from being the second largest city in Thailand, Hat Yai is also the transportation hub for all of southern Thailand. A second favored activity for visitors is bird watching, because Hat Yai has many migrant birds that travel through the area as well as quite a few species of resident birds. Hat Yai is one of Thailand's southernmost cities, located in the province of Songkhla. The city began as primarily a railroad hub between Thailand and Malaysia.
